The Peugeot E-208 GTi Is Coming – Are You Ready?

Introducing the all-new Peugeot e-208 GTi, revealed at Le Mans and coming soon to Leominster Motors. 280hp, Cup 2 tyres, limited-slip diff, and classic GTi style – all powered by cutting-edge EV tech. This isn’t just a return. It’s a revolution.

All-New Peugeot e-208 GTi Revealed at Le Mans: A Modern Classic is Born

Peugeot has officially unveiled the all-new e-208 GTi at the iconic Le Mans circuit, reigniting a legendary badge with a bold, all-electric twist. This is no mere concept or teaser—just months after confirmation of the project, the GTi is here, and it means business.

Following years of anticipation, the return of the Peugeot GTi in electric form is a welcome sight for driving enthusiasts and brand loyalists alike. With its world debut timed perfectly for the spotlight at Le Mans, the e-208 GTi not only revives Peugeot’s sporting spirit but also signals the brand’s intent to lead the electric hot hatch renaissance.

A Proper Hot Hatch, Reborn
Built on the proven e-CMP platform and powered by a 54kWh battery, the e-208 GTi is much more than a souped-up city EV. This is a fully re-engineered driving machine, sitting 30mm lower than the standard e-208, with a 56mm wider front track and a 27mm increase at the rear. The result? A squat, purposeful stance that recalls rally-bred legends from Peugeot’s past.

Performance-wise, the GTi packs a punch with a 280hp electric motor developed in Trémery through a Stellantis-Nidec collaboration. With 254lb ft of torque on tap, the GTi sprints from 0–62mph in just 5.7 seconds and tops out at 112mph. To maintain performance under pressure, Peugeot Sport has fitted a bespoke battery cooling system designed for high-speed driving.

Motorsport DNA, Everyday Driveability
True to its hot hatch roots, the e-208 GTi features a mechanical limited-slip differential, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, and hydraulic bump stops for improved control on the edge. Four-piston calipers clamp down on 355mm front discs, while a newly designed wheel draws inspiration from the iconic 1.9 205 GTi—both for aesthetic and cooling efficiency.

Handling and steering have been recalibrated with dynamic driving in mind, and a new Sport ESP mode has been introduced to enhance track-day feel without completely removing safety aids. The compact, Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel returns, now fine-tuned for quicker response and maximum engagement.

GTi Looks, Inside and Out
Visually, the e-208 GTi doesn’t shy away from its performance pedigree. Flared arches, a pronounced front spoiler, rear diffuser, and signature red accents from grille to wheel arches deliver unmistakable GTi attitude. The exterior also debuts a new shade of rouge exclusive to the model.

Inside, it’s a vivid celebration of Peugeot GTi heritage. Red carpets and seat belts nod to the legendary 205 GTi, while sports seats feature heritage-inspired mesh detailing. A leather and Alcantara steering wheel and GTi-specific digital graphics round out the cabin upgrades.

Everyday Usability Meets Electric Performance
Despite its sporting focus, the e-208 GTi retains all the practical benefits of the standard model. A WLTP-certified range of 217 miles, 100kW fast charging capability, and vehicle-to-load functionality ensure the GTi is as versatile as it is exciting. It also benefits from the Peugeot Electric Promise, which includes an eight-year battery warranty, eight-year roadside recovery, and access to Peugeot’s public charging network.

A New Era for the GTi Legacy
Speaking at the unveiling, CEO Alain Favey stated:
“We are thrilled to introduce the new Peugeot E-208 GTi, a ground-breaking next chapter in an iconic GTi story. This model represents a fusion of our rich heritage with cutting-edge technology, offering unparalleled performance and driving sensations, because at Peugeot we are serious about driving pleasure. With this new GTi, we set new standards within the hot hatch market.”

Pricing is expected to sit in the £35,000–£37,000 bracket, placing it right where customers expect a fully loaded, high-performance electric hatch to be. With Le Mans as its launchpad and a clear performance ethos, the e-208 GTi is poised to become a benchmark for electric driving excitement.

At Leominster Motors, we can’t wait to get behind the wheel.
